
Two youngsters have been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A590.
A 17-year-old girl was airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and another patient was taken to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital with a serious arm injury.
Two other patients were taken to the Royal Preston Hospital.
Two air ambulances, two ambulances, a Great North Air Ambulance Service emergency response vehicle, a MERIT doctor and two operational commanders were called to the scene.
The A590 is closed in both directions between the Meathop roundabout and Levens Hall. Motorists are facing long delays and congestion is being reported to Greenodd.
Travel time is about 40 minutes.
