City of Liverpool, who visit Workington tonight, look like including new signing Freddie Potter.
Manager Michael Ellison admitted his side had one or two knocks to consider after the opening 0-0 draw with Ramsbottom on Saturday.
The striker is no stranger to the Purps boss, having worked together to great success at Runcorn Linnets.
Potter was somewhat of a talismanic figure across two spells at Linnets, scoring 75 goals in 138 appearances.
He has also represented Marine, Burscough and AFC Liverpool and joins the Purps having left Warrington Rylands at the conclusion of last season.
He has been training with the Purps during pre-season and featured in friendlies against Vauxhall Motors and Atherton Collieries.
“Freddie is someone I know really well from my time at Runcorn,” Ellison said.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience and most importantly he will get you goals.
“Once he’s got his match fitness and gets up to speed, he will be a great addition to the squad. I’m glad to have him on board.”
That debut might have to be rushed through the injury concerns the team suffered at home to Rammy.
Reds boss Chris Wilkins appears to have no such concerns and will pick his side from strength.
His card has been marked ahead of the game after talking to close pal Lee Donafee who succeeded him at Ramsbottom.
No doubt the player underlined in red ink will have been midfielder Jack Hazlehurst, described as a clever, old-fashioned schemer.
Hazlehurst signed from Liverpool Football College in 2017 and has gone on to play 112 games, scoring 38 goals for the club.
Ellison said of him: ”He’s been excellent since I walked through the door and he’s an integral part of what we’re trying to do here.
“I’ve no doubt there is still a lot more to come from him and that he will play a huge part in us reaching our targets for this season”
Kick-off tonight is 7.45pm.
