A driver has died after a serious crash on the A69 just over the Cumbrian border in Greenhead.
Officers from Cumbria Constabulary and Northumbria Police attended just before 8.45am this morning and closed the road in both directions. The road remains shut to all motorists and diversions are in place.
Traffic is reported to be heavy in the area.
Inspector Dean Hood from Northumbria Police’s motor patrols department said: “This was a serious collision which has sadly killed a man and our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we are gathering information to build up a picture of how the collision occurred.
“However, we would still ask anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage and has not yet come forward to get in touch immediately.”
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact 101, or use the Tell us Something page on their website, quoting log NP-20210818-0179.
