Two men have been arrested after a woman suffered a head injury in an alleged attack.

Two men have been arrested after a woman suffered a head injury in an alleged attack.

Police are investigating an alleged assault just after 8pm on August 7 at Anchor Vaults on Market Place, Whitehaven.

A 27-year-old local woman sustained a head injury in the incident. A police officer was uninjured.

A 29-year-old man from Cleator Moor was arrested on suspicion of harassment, affray and assaulting an emergency worker.

A 59-year-old man from Whitehaven was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray and assaulting an emergency worker.

Both men have been released under investigation.

Officers are requesting anybody with further information who witnessed the incident to contact police.
