Housebuilder Story Homes has given more than £93,000 to improve Wetheral’s football field.

When the firm was given planning permission for the 41-home Priory Grange, it pledged to contribute the cash to improve recreation, plus almost £180,000 to help primary and secondary schools in the area.

Any money left over from the football field improvements will be pumped into revamping the facilities at the village’s playing field.

Adam McNally, land and planning manager at Story Homes, said: “The homes that we build are part of wider communities, so helping to improve facilities within the local area is very important to us.

“The Priory Grange scheme has appropriately responded to the needs of residents and continues to provide support for facilities in the area.

“As a Carlisle-headquartered business it is great to be able to bring these improvements and benefits to the residents of the village, adding long term value to the area.”
