Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Oliver Lombard is making his Kendal Town debut tonight at home to Prescot Cables.
A former Scholar of the Year at Preston, Lombard signed his first 12-month contract with North End in May and has joined Kendal on an indefinite loan period.
He will have the chance of some senior football in the NPL West as first choice keeper Morgan Bacon has now left the Parkside Road club.
Bacon had started a three-match ban when Kendal played Warrington Town in the FA Cup and used a young keeper on loan from Burnley.
Kendal manager Chris Humphrey said: “Morgan has left us on good terms and we wish him all the best. It’s a chance for young Oliver who is very highly rated by Preston and I hope we can keep him for a while.”
Kendal are at the bottom of the table and badly need a win tonight to kickstart their season.
“We are creating chances, which is the encouraging thing, and if we had a consistent goal-scorer we would not be in the position we are now.
“I thought we played well against a team from the League above and it’s also encouraging that we have some of our injured players back for tonight.”
