A Cumbrian charity boss has been nominated in the Women’s Business Awards.
The Women’s Business Awards takes place in multiple countries each December as part of the Women’s Business Conference where women are celebrated and recognised for their outstanding contributions and achievements.
This year Caroline Howsley, general manager of Cumbria Deaf Association has been nominated for a Positivity Award. The category asks for nominations “for a woman whose positivity is infectious and makes the world a better place for all who encounter her.”
In recent years many people have experienced Caroline’s positive, can-do attitude in which she readily tackles challenges and works hard to ensure that those around her are encouraged to achieve all that they desire for themselves.
From helping to develop the outstanding home care service, Westmorland Homecare, to her work at Ambleside Parish Centre in 2020 that saw her swiftly adapting to the changing world of covid and seeking support for those most in need, Caroline has a long-lasting impact on those who benefit from her enthusiasm to effect positive change and drive to succeed.
In December 2020 Caroline moved to a role with Cumbria Deaf Association, this role is something very close to her heart because of the hearing loss she experienced as a child. Growing up the world could be a lonely place but, undeterred, Caroline remained in mainstream education and was a college student ambassador for equal opportunities on the staff panel.
Throughout her career, she has mentored others, coordinated women’s networking groups and volunteered in youth organisations and school engagement projects.
Caroline was both surprised and delighted to receive the nomination.
“It is flattering that I am considered a positive person,” she said.
“We all face challenges but I firmly believe that to inspire and encourage others, creates a positive culture and reflects in all that I do. It is this belief that led me to supporting business and school engagement projects, to help inspire future generations.”
The next stage of the award nomination process will be a voting stage, in which Caroline will be seeking support from the local community.
