A Cumbrian MP has signed a letter to the Prime Minister to work with the G20 to fund a plan to support education in Afghanistan.
After the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan parliamentarians of all parties have expressed their concerns about access to education in the country, especially for young children, women and girls.
Penrith MP Neil Hudson said: “I jumped at the opportunity to sign this important cross-party letter about protecting access to education for Afghans. As the news cycles steadily move on from reporting on Afghanistan, keep this issue high on the government’s agenda and do all we can to protect the right to a good education for thousands of Afghans.
“I am a firm believer in building consensus and this cross-party approach shows that the House can unite in wanting to do our best for Afghans.”
