Armed police have been deployed in Carlisle this afternoon as officers attend several addresses in connection with an incident.
They are in the Whernside area of Carlisle and a spokesman said armed officers were being deployed as a precaution. There is no perceived wider threat to the community.
A statement added: “We would ask the public to stay away from this area as our response continues.”
