Preparations are underway for a major skills fair in Carlisle – and city firms are urged to take part.

Organised by city MP John Stevenson, the event is now in its eighth year and will take place at Carlisle College on Thursday January 27.

Businesses across the city have been asked to take part.

Mr Stevenson said: “It was with great sadness that we were unable to hold last year’s skills fair due to COVID-19 restrictions. Next year’s event will undoubtedly be bigger and better.

“I am extremely proud that together with local businesses and training/skills providers we have successfully ensured that thousands of young people and job seekers have been able to get the best possible advice and guidance on the many opportunities that have been available to them across our city.

“With more and new types of jobs and careers becoming available, it is more important than ever that we continue to allow our young people, job seekers, returners to work and those looking for a career change, to be best placed to benefit from the many opportunities before them.”

Businesses wishing to take part are asked to call Mr Stevenson’s office on 01228 550684.
