Ben Dowding, of Influence Church

A new church has opened its doors in Workington.

Influence Church held its first official services this month in the town, with a congregation of over 150 people coming to celebrate.

The Church is holding its weekly meetings in the Studio rooms of the Carnegie Theatre and hosted its launch service in the main theatre of the Carnegie.

Influence Church is a Pentecostal denomination and part of the Assemblies of God network.

It operates as a multi-site church, with congregations in Richmond, Barnard Castle, Penrith and Bishop Auckland.

Pastor Ben Dowding, senior pastor of Influence Church, said: “We really loved our first official night in Workington! It was so exciting to see this iconic venue filled with people worshipping! God has not been on pause in the pandemic and we can’t wait to see what happens as we continue to build church in this community.

“We believe this is a new season where many people are searching for answers, peace and purpose.”

The local pastors of Influence Church Workington are Nick and Judy Reynolds, who have lived in the area for many years, but recently moved house to be even more central to the Workington community.

Influence Church is now holding weekly Sunday services at 5pm in the Carnegie Theatre.
