Police are currently investigating a death, road rage incident and related single vehicle crash in West Cumbria.
A red Kia Rio was in collision with two pedestrians a woman in her 40s and a child of secondary school age in the Woodend area of Egremont at around 2.30pm.
The driver of the vehicle a man in his late 20s left his vehicle and assaulted the woman, the woman suffered stab wounds to her arm, described as not life threatening.
She was taken to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment.
The child suffered minor injuries, he was taken to hospital as a precaution and discharged.
Police received a further call at 2.44pm to the report of a single vehicle collision on St Bees Road.
The collision involved a red Kia Rio.
Officers attended and located a man in a woodland area. The man, in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances at this time. There was no perceived threat to the wider public.
“It is being investigated as an isolated incident.”
