Farm businesses in the South Lakes will be able to access support and advice with the creation of a new group.
The Farmer Network has delivered the Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme for five years across Cumbria, and other northern counties.
A new Kendal group is now being created with up to 20 farm businesses, which will meet at the Strickland Arms, Sizergh.
Farmer Network project manager, Veronica Waller said: “There has never been a more important time for farmers to have support in thinking about their future and the tools to enable them to make changes to their business.
“Farmers that participated in previous groups say to me that the programme has made them think about what they need to do, to look further than one day at a time and to plan for the future.”
Uptake within the Kendal group has been good but there are still a few spaces remaining.
The programme includes analysis of the farm’s costs with a report for each business prepared as part of the programme.
This is followed by six workshops over the winter on business skills and environmental management. The workshops are held in the evening with supper provided and family members are encouraged to attend together.
The Farmer Network wants to fill the remaining spaces on the Kendal group by mid-November and the programme starts in mid-December.
