Labour has gained a seat on Workington Town Council.
A by-election was held for the Westfield ward yesterday.
The results were as follows:
- Laura Johnstone (Independent) – 104 votes
- Neil Anthony Schofield (Labour Party) – 172 votes
- Kate Teresa Walker (Conservative Party Candidate) – 88 votes
The total electorate is 2,343 and the number of votes cast was 365 (15.85 per cent of the electorate). There was one rejected ballot paper.
The result is a Labour gain from Independent.
