
The family of a Barrow man killed in collision on the A590 which involved his car and a tractor have paid tribute to his life.
Tony Smith, 52, died following the collision last Thursday.
His children said: “Tony Smith, known as Smudge by friends and family, was a lot of things to a lot of people.
“He was a devoted son, a wonderful father, a loving partner, a cheeky big brother, a protective grandfather, a beloved stepfather. He was also a kind and caring friend to so many.
“Our dad was an incredibly special man.
“He was someone who would always see the positive and try to make others smile.
“He was unbelievably selfless and filled our lives with so much love and laughter.
“His passing has left our family with the biggest hole and we will love and miss him forever.”
Officers were called to the incident at about 5.45pm on Thursday.
The collision happened on the westbound carriageway, between J36 and Brettargh Holt roundabout.
Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses.
They would like to hear from anyone who saw a tractor on the A590 around the time of the collision, from around 5.30pm, and anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the incident time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable 1718 Turner.
