Workington Town have continued their squad building for their return to the Championship by re-signing Joe Brown.
The experienced 34-year-old Jamaican international, who can play on the wing or at centre, had a strong season after joining Town, helping them to promotion in the play-off final.
He had signed initially on loan from Newcastle Thunder in May and had been with the north-east club for 12 years.
Town coach Chris Thorman said: “Joe has been a model of consistency since he arrived at the club, bringing some much needed experience to our outside backs.
“A smart edge defender, great ball carrier and outstanding communicator, I didn’t hesitate in offering him an extension to be with us in 2022.
“I know it’s going to be a big year for Joe, hopefully culminating in World Cup selection with Jamaica and I’m confident that his 2021 form is continued into the Championship and that will only bode well for all of us.’
Brown said: “After joining the club, and with what we achieved in getting promotion, it was an easy decision. The lads have been fantastic since I arrived and the supporters are some of the best set of fans to play in front of.
“My aim for the season is to make sure I do everything I can for us to stay in the Championship and also give myself the best possible chance of playing for Jamaica in the World Cup at the end of the Year.’
