Workington Reds have rearranged their postponed game with Bootle for Tuesday, December 7 at Borough Park.
The original game this Saturday became a blank date for the Reds as Bootle are still involved in FA Trophy action. They host Stalybridge Celtic in the first round proper.
They are also left without a game on Saturday, December 4 because the home game with Market Draytonwas brought forward as both sides were out of the FA Cup.
Manager Chris Willcock and his assistant Steven Rudd were both trying to fix-up a friendly for Saturday but there were no takers.
Instead Reds will organise a bounce game involving their first team squad and members of the development side.
They will then have two more training sessions next week before the next NPL West game at Colne on Saturday, November 20.
Reds are back at Borough Park on November 27 with a visit from Prescot Cables but the following week-end will again be without a fixture, so the re-arranged game with Bootle on the Tuesday will be welcome.
It’s getting very tight at the top of the NPL West table with six points separating the top seven teams,
The top two are still involved in the FA Trophy – Marine host Reds’ conquerors Dunston and Mossley go to Whitby. In the League the main rivals are all at home – Leek Town v Newcastle Town; Trafford v Kendal Town and Warrington Rylands v Prescot Cables.
Which leaves Workington and Runcorn Linnets as the only two in the leading group not playing.
Reds offered to travel to Runcorn, bringing a fixture forward, but despite winning 4-2 at Borough Park two weeks ago the Linnets weren’t interested.
