Improvements planned for Workington’s B&M store

The owners of discount retail chain B&M have confirmed they will be refurbishing their Workington store.

Heron Foods announced that the B&M Express on Murray Road will close on November 20, with the refurbished store scheduled to reopen on December 7.

The store will undergo a complete transformation including new fixtures, fittings and lighting throughout, and also a slight extension to create a better and brighter store. The store will also extend its product ranges to include chilled alcohol, pet food, a cleaning range, as well as health and beauty.

To celebrate the refurbed store will be offering a goodie bag worth over £5 to the first 100 customers who spend £5 or more. Not only that, the first 250 customers who spend over £5 will also be offered a scratch-card which will reveal a prize once scratched off. Five top prizes worth £50 are to be found.

Store manager, Michelle Hanson, who has worked for Heron Foods for 16 years, said: “We are building on our existing reputation in the Workington store and improving our offering to customers. We hope the refurb will pull more focus to our extensive food and drink ranges, as well as cleaning, health & beauty and pet products.”

The refurb has created an additional six new jobs.

B&M Express – Workington will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
