A group of schoolchildren in Penrith visited a playground manufacturing facility.

Year one and two children from Skelton School in Penrith recently visited Playdale Playgrounds’ head office, in Haverthwaite, for an educational behind the scenes tour of their manufacturing facility.

Over the Christmas period, the school will be having a new Playdale playground installed. With their school topic of the term being materials, the visit was a perfect opportunity to learn more about the materials their new playground equipment will be manufactured from, and the processes involved.

They had the chance to ask a whole host of questions to members of staff about the various areas of the business, including design, engineering and manufacturing.

The children even got the chance to get up close with some of the finished equipment.

As a reminder of their visit, Playdale’s CEO, Barry Leahey, presented the children with a routed plaque featuring the school’s name.

“We have had an amazing day at the Playdale factory in Haverthwaite. Playdale are building our new climbing frame next month and invited us along to see how it was designed and made. It was also a fantastic opportunity to learn about and handle wood, rubber, rope, metal and CGL. Thank you so much to Hannah, Mick and all the Playdale team for having us,” said Jane Holme, school business manager.
