If you have a loved one in hospital that you are unable to visit, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust can help you send them a message.
It can be difficult when you can’t be with someone you care about. That’s why if your family member or friend is in the Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland Hospital or one of our community hospitals, the North Cumbria NHS trust will help you stay connected.
Sylvia Atherton, Patient Experience Manager for NCIC, said: “As we head into winter, we wanted to remind families that this service is available and we are here to keep them connected with their families.
“Although many of our patients are able to keep connected via smartphones this is not always possible and this is another way that people can reach out to their relatives and can be a source of comfort when they are unwell.”
The Patient Experience Team can support relatives to send a message, they will be printed and laminated and then sent to the relevant ward.
Relatives need to email or phone their message in and include:
- Your loved one’s name and date of birth
- Your message with a photograph included as an email attachment if you wish.
Anyone who wants to send a message to a relative in hospital should contact:
- Freephone: 01228 602128 or 01228 814309
- Email [email protected]
The service is available Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.
Visiting remains restricted but is allowed on an appointment basis only by contacting the ward. One adult is able to visit a patient on a ward. There are some exceptions for our short stay and assessment wards.
