
Storm Barra arrived in Cumbria this morning and has begun to cause chaos across the county.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and wind, in force until midnight.
It forecast gusts of up 65mph.

4.13pm The A686 Hartside Pass is now clear between Melmerby and Alston.
4.12pm Due to a tree blocking the railway at Lockerbie, trains running between Carlisle and Edinburgh may be cancelled or delayed.

3.46pm Unconfirmed reports that a person has been hit by a tree in Hincaster, near Kendal, and was taken to hospital. Earlier today, it was reported that Harry Brow in the area was aso blocked by a fallen tree.
3.28pm: Our colleagues at Cumbria Road Watch are reporting that the A5087 Coast Road at Roosebeck is impassable due to large waves washing onto the road.
3.14pm: Snow is affecting the A686 Hartside Pass (Melmerby to Alston). Reported as passable with care.

3.07pm: Some properties in Cumbria face two days without power, according to the latest power cut list from Electricity North West.

3.04pm: Reports that a tree has fallen and is blocking the road between Dean Cross and Ullock in West Cumbria.
3.01pm: Trains on the West Coast Mainline travelling from the south are terminating at Carlisle due to a tree blocking the railway.
2.36pm: Drivers are being urged to take care after a tree fell on a major road in the South Lakes.
The tree fell near Windy Hall Farm, Kendal, and is completely blocking the road.
Highways Agency are aware and attending.
Police have advised people to use alternative routes.
2.26pm: A man and a woman have been taken to hospital after a tree fell on them in a Lake District park. Read more here.
1.36pm: Drivers travelling on a stretch of the M6 are being affected by strong winds and snow.
Problems are being reported between Brough and Bowes.
The road is said to be passable with care.
1.10pm: The railway line between Kendal and Burneside is blocked by an obstruction.
Train company Northern said: “Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line between Kendal and Burneside the line is blocked.
“Services between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.”
12.24pm: Power cuts are being reported in Irton, Holmrook and Seascale, due to Storm Barra.
Electricity North West said it was aware of a power cut in Irton, affecting 303 properties, and engineers were on their way.
It said it was hoped power would be restored by 1.45pm.
