Cumbria police have released more details about a man who went missing yesterday and has urged people to stay away from their search areas.
Nicholas Degraff, of Workington, was last seen at around 12.40pm yesterday.
Nicholas, 23, left an address in Great Clifton at around 4.30am intending to walk home to Workington but did not arrive.
He was last seen on Rosemary Gardens, Great Clifton at around 5am heading westwards towards Workington.
He is described as 5ft 10in, of slim build and with short, brown hair.
He has tattoos on his face and neck with spacer ear piercings.
He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jogging bottoms, work boots and carrying a grey-coloured drawstring shoulder bag. He had an Alsatian dog with him.
Nicholas also had in his possession a 3M SPEED GLAS black welding mask – likely carried in a bag – which would be quite distinctive if found, police said.
Multi-agency searches are currently ongoing in Great Clifton area and along the River Derwent.
A spokesman said: “Police are aware of members of
the public seeking to help. However, people are urged to avoid the area so as not to put themselves at risk or impede the emergency services searching the area.”
Anyone who has knowledge of Nicholas’ whereabouts is urged to call 999.
Any other information, report it at www.cumbria.police.uk/reportit or call 101.
It is understood police searched through the night and a Coastguard helicopter was spotted over the area yesterday.
