Nicholas Degraff

Emergency services have been searching through the night for a missing Workington man and a search by the public is set to resume this morning.

Nicholas Degraff, 22, was reported missing at around 12.40pm yesterday – December 12.

Specialist police teams are set to begin a search soon and Cumbria Constabulary has advised people who want to help with the search to stick completely to safe areas only and avoid other search teams.

He is described as 5ft 10in, of slim build and with short, brown hair.

He left an address in Great Clifton at around 5am intending to walk home to Workington but did not arrive.

People formed search teams for Nicholas and looked along the slagbanks and alongside the river from Barepot to Clifton yesterday afternoon.

A Coastguard helicopter was spotted over Workington yesterday afternoon.

His family said they were waiting for a call for the search by the general public to resume this morning.

People are urged to take care, particularly with regards areas by the river. People are urged not to enter the water.

Anyone who has knowledge of Nicholas’ whereabouts is urged to call 999.
