Muncaster Castle has been given an £170,000 boost by the Government.
The popular tourist attraction in West Cumbria has been awarded the cash from the latest round of the Culture Recovery Fund to help it deal with the impact of COVID-19.
Muncaster Castle, including its extensive gardens and the Hawk & Owl Centre, will use this grant to continue safeguarding and increasing Muncaster’s cultural and conservation heritage offering and reach out to a wider audience.
It said the funding will allow it to offer more education, cultural richness and heritage access while not excluding its already diverse visitor base.
Peter Frost-Pennington, of Muncaster Castle, said: “It is fabulous that we have been awarded this grant from the Culture Recovery Fund.
“It is crucial to our continued survival as a leading tourist attraction in the Western Lake District and a big boost for our loyal and hardworking staff.
“The grant will benefit future generations of visitors for many years to come.
“We delight in seeing visitors chill out, relax, learn and be entertained by all that Muncaster Castle offers to those who honour us with a visit.”
Nearly 140 heritage organisations in England will benefit from £15.5 million this Christmas thanks to the fund.
The Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage is administered by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, in partnership with Historic England on behalf of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport
