Kendal Town start a three-match run of fixtures which would test the best in NPL West, never mind a side struggling next to bottom.
The Mintcakes visit third-placed Marine this afternoon; then host second in the table Warrington Rylands before travelling to Leek Town who are fourth.
Manager Craig Dootson has been working hard to bring in new blood but there won’t be any fresh faces in the squad at Marine.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Craig has put a strategy into place for our recruitment. One or two of his targets just have knocks at the moment and he is waiting for them to recover.
“We have put seven days in on players so will be ready to move when we can. But it is an extremely tough sequence of games for us.”
Dootson had Marine watched in mid-week when they lost 3-0 at home to Mossley, the latest in a poor sequence of results for the former League leaders.
“The general opinion was that they are having a few problems and this might be the right time to play them. I certainly hope so.
“Although we lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle last week I thought at times we played as well as we have done since we got involved eight weeks ago. It was great to see our young side all at it,” said O’Neill.
