A West Cumbrian group for ex-members of the armed forces and those serving has been given £1,000.
Workington Veterans Hub, set up three years ago, was given the donation by Unite the Union’s Sellafield branch.
The hub meets on the first Saturday of every month from 11am to 1pm at the town’s Army Reserve Centre on Harrington Road and offers people peer-to-peer support, plus a free cuppa and a bacon sandwich.
Dave Tennyson, chairman of Workington Veterans Hub, said: “The money will be used to fund ongoing Veterans Hubs and allow veterans to meet on a monthly basis at no cost to them. We are so grateful to Unite Sellafield branch for enabling us to do this.”
