Staff at a South Cumbrian playground manufacturer have given over £5,000 to St Mary’s Hospice.

Playdale Playgrounds, in Haverthwaite, have been supporting local causes and initiatives through voluntary efforts of staff.

Each year Playdale staff members nominate good causes which is put to a company-wide staff vote and the top two choices then become chosen good causes for the rest of the following year.

St Mary’s Hospice has been the chosen good cause charity for the past three years.

Golf days, cake bakes, three peak challenges, leg waxing, and even head shaving is only a few of the events Playdale staff organised to raise money.

The final amount of £1,750 raised in 2021 was donated to make up the total.

Clare Paling, St Mary’s hospice area fundraising manager, said: “The team at Playdale have worked amazingly hard to raise funds for St Mary’s and done everything you can imagine!

“If you are looking for inspiration as a corporate fundraiser, you will find it here. They’ve taken part in organised events like Keswick to Barrow and climbing mountains at night, as well as organising their own events such as golf days and race nights. Their fancy dress days and bake sales have been very impressive too!

“We are so grateful to everyone at Playdale who took this cause to their heart.

“The amount of money raised is an incredible gift for us to receive and will make a real difference to local families and their loved ones. It’s been a pleasure working with and getting to know the Playdale staff and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”

CSR ambassador at Playdale, Lisa O Sullivan, said: “We are extremely proud on what we have achieved as a team for St Mary’s Hospice and hope to make the same difference to other nominated charities.”

The good causes that Playdale is supporting throughout 2022 are Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity- Children’s Appeal and Lookin GOOD and Feeling GREAT.
