A West Cumbrian IT business has been sold to the county’s largest business communications provider.
Westcom, which employs six people, has been acquired by Online Systems.
Dave Purfield, founder and managing director of Westcom, and the staff will remain with the company.
Mr Purfield said: “I chose Online Systems as I believe that are the perfect fit culturally while matching the type of work we do and the ethos with which we currently serve our clients.
“Technology changes were a big factor! As business communication solutions across IT and telephony services now merge seamlessly together, I believe that going forward integrating the businesses allows us to provide support in areas to our client base that traditionally we have been unable to.”
Established in 1992, Online Systems, has its head office in Carlisle. It employs 45 people.
Greg Morton, managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome clients and colleagues of Westcom to Online Systems.
“This acquisition combines two firms of a similar culture, with complementary strengths and sector expertise. Clients will continue to get quality, personal service for what they need, and for some it will give them the benefit of being able to pull in the products and skills of a larger business.
“We hope that by offering an increasing range of products and technical expertise, we will ensure that we continue to provide local businesses with tailored, proactive support and advice essential for business profit and growth.”
Online Systems recently completed the acquisition of Whitethorn Communications Ltd, a telecommunications business based in Skipton.
