A leading Cumbrian law firm is offering two game show-style events to help businesses navigate HR and employment issues.
Burnetts will be hosting its version of Family Fortunes in Carlisle on March 29 and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in Workington in May to offer businesses free advice.
The Family Fortunes Breakfast with Burnetts event will take place at Burnetts’ head office at Victoria House in Carlisle and will draw on the TV show format to host a 90-minute feature on why adopting a family friendly approach in HR could save employers a fortune.
The two teams ‘playing’ will be comprised of Burnetts’ legal and HR experts and will look at issues including flexible working, maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave, shared parental leave and news from the EU.
There will be time for questions and answers and a breakfast of bacon butties and hot drinks will be provided too.
Burnetts is also partnering up with the CIPD – the professional body for HR and people development – to host the Annual Employment Law Update – Who Wants to be a Millionaire with Burnetts.
The interactive event will take place at Hunday Manor Country House Hotel in Workington on May 18 and will see Burnetts’ employment team test its wits against computer generated questions to see if they can win by saving businesses £1 million.
The team will explore key areas where businesses could be exposed to employment tribunal claims and poor practice impacting on their business efficiency.
The event will provide practical, proactive advice, covering recent case law and topics such as flexible working, managing long term sickness absence, discrimination claims and how to spot the difference between employees, workers and self-employed staff and there will be lunch served too.
David Gibson, head of Burnetts’ employment and HR team, said: “Although the titles might suggest a comedy element, it is important to recognise that these are key issues organisations should be addressing to ensure compliance and create a workforce that is productive, efficient and happy. We are delighted once again to work alongside CIPD, a major organisation dedicated to championing better work and working lives by setting standards and driving change.”
Both events are open to all businesses and full information and booking details for each can be found at https://www.burnetts.co.uk/events.
