
A hat-trick from James Bell helped Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves to a 5-2 win at Mirehouse in the Cumberland County League’s First Division cup.
The other Celtic scorers were Stuart Shaw and Luke Youdale.
Also progressing in this competition are Windscale Reserves who won 5-2 at Silloth . Tony Nicholson scored twice for Windscale with others added by Dale Hooper, Jay Taylor and Coady Scott. Both Silloth goals were scored by Brian Hayhurst.
In the Premier Division, Workington Athletic closed the gap on leaders Aspatria to nine points, after beating Maryport Athletic 4-2.
The Workington goals came from Connor Hammell, Dan McDermott, Gareth Brunton and Macauley Sharp with Ethan Weir replying twice for Maryport.
In the semi-final of the Cumberland County Cup, the County League’s Pirelli were beaten 4-1 by Wetheriggs of the Westmorland League.
Wetheriggs will now be waiting for Tuesday night’s second semi-final to find-out who they will meet in the final. Carlisle City are at home to the holders Carlisle United.
The Pirelli consolation goal in their semi-final defeat came from Liam Delaney.
