A five star luxury Lake District guest house has been bought by a woman from Norfolk who is pursuing her lifelong dream.
Beaumont House, in Windermere, has been sold by commercial real estate firm Colliers to Simona Iorescu. It was on the market for £1.25 million but the sale price has not been disclosed.
Originally built in the early 1800s as a private residence, it now operates as a 11-en suite bed and breakfast with three-bedroom owners’ accommodation.
Owners John and Denise Dixon have worked hard over their ownership, and have been accredited Recognition of Excellence 2017, rated 9.2 by guests on Hotels Combined and have made the recommended list on TripAdvisor.
Denise said: “We are very proud of our achievements having built and developed Beaumont house into the much-loved bed and breakfast that it is today. After so many happy years we have taken the decision to move onto a new chapter. We wish Simona every success pursuing her new career in Windermere.”
The Lakeland stone guest house is set among mature grounds on the edge of Windermere village.
Colliers’ UK Staycation Report highlighted the resilience of the UK hospitality market and presented the opportunities that exist for UK hoteliers to attract people who would previously have chosen to travel abroad for holidays and weekend breaks.
The 2021 report predicted that privately owned UK hospitality businesses would report record trade for the year with increased occupancy levels and average room rates compared to the same period in 2019.
Neil Thomson, hotel specialist at Colliers, who advised on the deal, said: “The sale of Beaumont House is another example of the strong demand for hospitality trades in heavy tourist areas around the UK. Despite the challenges we have faced with the pandemic, we have witnessed a record level of enquiries so far this year and reports show trading levels are at an all-time high.
“This has certainly created opportunities and has generated interest from a pool of new buyers around the country, who are choosing to escape the city life to pursue their dreams of a better work-life balance.”
