A Lake District spa resort has teamed up with Kendal College to give the next generation of spa therapists the skills and working opportunities to develop careers.

The partnership between Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa and the college is designed to ensure that newly qualified therapists have an earlier opportunity to gain experience and earn a professional wage.

The ESPA certification delivered through the college will equip them with industry ready, high end, luxury brand training which is aimed at giving them a head-start in applying for jobs.

A contracted work experience at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa will then allow them to earn a proper spa therapist’s wage while developing their industry experience and customer service skills.

Annabel Berry, of English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, said: “We want our spa therapists to thrive in the working environment. One of the biggest challenges for newly qualified therapists is getting on the first rung of the career ladder and gaining the experience they need.

“Once we’d discussed this with Kendal College and ESPA, they were keen to help.”

Richard Axford, Kendal College head of faculty for leisure and service industries, added: “We are extremely proud to be collaborating with such high-quality brands as Low Wood Bay and ESPA.

“This will expose our learners to industry leading training and will mean they are qualified at a high level upon completion of their studies.”
