
Lowca earned their first win in the Holmen Iggesund Premier Division with a nail-biting 38-36 success against Glasson Rangers.
It was described as a fantastic game, with veteran whistler Neil Byers winning wide acclaim for outstanding and brilliant refereeing.
It was nip and tuck the whole way through and consequently the game could have gone either way but Lowca managed to hold out for the win.
Lowca, who led 16-12 at the break, scored seven tries through Mitchell Todd (2), Matt Farrer (2), Emmerson Allen (2) and Dave Colley. The five conversions were split between Colley (3) and Jamie Scott (2).
Glasson Rangers, who contributed in full to an exciting game, scored tries through Matt Burns (3), Matt Johnson, Adam Lee and Jon Cameron. Luke Johnson kicked six goals.
Reigning Premier Division champions Ellenborough were far too strong for local rivals Maryport and swept to a 62-0 derby win.
Owen Hoyles had a remarkable game for Ellenborough, who led 34-0 at half-time.
He scored five tries and landed nine conversions.
The other Ellenborough tries came from Jordan Ostle, Luke Penrice, Kevin Hoban, John Todd, Andrew Ostle and Rhys Burr.
The third Premier Division game saw Wath Brow A win 34-12 at Aspatria, building on a 24-0 lead at half-time.
Aspatria, who won the second half 12-10 to give them encouragement scored tries through Scott Donald and Dan Potts, both converted by Guy Reed.
The Wath Brow tries came from Luke Davison (3), Fletcher Creasey, Nat Dougan, Greg Dawson and Luke Spivey. Jamie McAllister kicked three goals.
Both games in Holmen Iggesund Division One were played on Friday night and there were wins for Kells A and Seaton A.
A strong second half performance by Kells A put distance between themselves and hosts Ellenborough as they won 32-6 in what was a good, well officiated game of rugby.
Alby Towers scored the Ellenborough try which was converted by Brett Stevenson.
It was only 12-6 to Kells at half-time but they eventually ended up with six tries from Ryan Starkie (2), Dan Starkie, Martin O’Neill, Jamie Jennings and Harley Nelson. There were four conversions from Dan Starkie. Bailey Morton was their man of the match.
There was an excellent contest at Hensingham whewre the home A team went down 38-30 to Seaton Rangers A.
With the score at 20-16 in Hensingham’s favour, three tries between the 55th and om 65th minutes for Seaton, proved crucial and stifled a later come back from Hensingham.
It had been 16-10 to Seaton at half-time before Hensingham came back to lead 20-16 before those three quick tries turned the game.
The Hensingham tries came from Ryley Burr (2) Kyran Lofthouse (2), Gary Hanlon and Deon Crowe. Bradley Smith converted three.
The Seaton tries were scored by Mark Surtees (2), Luke Crossman (2), Leo McMullen, Tom Dover and Paul Rooke. Brandon Walker kicked five goals.
