Sports fans in Workington will get to hear the latest developments about plans to create a £5 million stadium in Workington at a meeting next week.

The sports village would include a shared stadium for football team Workington Reds and rugby side Workington Town, plus community facilities.

It is being funded by cash from the Government’s Towns Fund.

Sports fans are now invited to a forum at the Carnegie Theatre on Thursday, April 21.

A spokesman said: “There will be a concise summary of where the project is currently and anticipated future plans.

“Representatives of Workington Reds and Workington Town will be supported by project advisors.

I’m sure this will not only update fans, as promised at the respective clubs AGMs, but outline challenges still faced and how we will be addressing them as there is still much work to do.”

Capacity is limited and admission is free and can be booked online by accessing the Carnegie box office at https://bit.ly/3KI507w

There is box office and phone service available between 11.30am and 2pm Monday to Saturday for those who can’t book online.

The forum starts at 6.30pm, with bar facilities open from 5.30pm.
