Dalton made progress in the ECB National Club Championship with an excellent and exciting win at Wigan.
They had looked second favourites when Wigan made a splendid start to their run chase, but dug in well for victory by 12 runs.
Batting first Dalton had lost wickets at regular intervals but still managed to accumulate 186-9 in their 40 overs.
Overseas amateur Amari Goodridge was their mainstay with 56 and he had good support from Joe Braund-Smith (26) and Rangika Pinnala Don (23).
Wigan seemed to be cruising when openers Charles Taylor (54) and Patrick Fairhurst (53) put on 97 for the first wicket.
But Dalton’s bowlers kept chipping away and although still looking in the box seat at 145-4, Wigan collapsed to 174 all out with three balls left.
Daniel Sharpe had 4-41; Goodridge had 2-26 and Don took 2-33.
Workington didn’t fare as well at Leigh in the same competition where they went down by nine wickets.
The Cumbrians elected to bat first and although Jake Daniel (25) and Sam Bates (25) gave them a solid start, when they were parted the innings crumbled.
From 59-2 they slumped to 97 all out with only skipper Matthew Lowden (18no) able to get to double figures.
Skipper Lowden struck an early blow by removing opener Harry Church but that was the only success.
Sam Dorsey (57no) and Matthew Hurst (38no) carried Leigh to a nine-wicket win in only 19 overs.
Furness had earlier got through their tie with Lancaster but Whitehaven went down at Netherfield.
Wyll Stanway was the hero for Furness with an unbeaten 88 off 86 deliveries and which included seven fours and six sixes.
Furness reached 219-6 in the 39th over after restricting Lancaster to 217-9.
Northern League side Netherfield rattled-up 242-4 in their 50 overs against Whitehaven, led by opener Ben Barrow (106) and Josh Dixon (50).
Whitehaven made a decent fist of it before eventually being pegged to 180-5 with Nathan Carmichael (44) and Andrew Cameron (40no) their main contributors.
