Northside edge closer to quadruple

Northside have won three trophies and can still complete the quadruple. Players officials and supporters celebrate after their latest triumph – 5-1 over Deer Orchard in the League Cup final.

The quadruple is very much on, and could be landed in West Cumbria, before Liverpool find out of they can add three more trophies to the League Cup.

That’s because Northside now lead Liverpool 3-1 in the race to the quadruple after they had beaten Deer Orchard 5-1 in the League Cup final last night at Borough Park.

Their attempt to wrap-up a fourth trophy will come on Sunday when they play Deer Orchard again, this time at Flimby, in the final of the Divisional Cup for the Premier Division clubs.

They have already been crowned Premier Division champions and last Sunday beat Sun Inn 4-0 in the final of the President’s Cup.

The final score-line last night suggests a one-sided contest but it certainly wasn ;t looking like that at half-time with the sides level at 1-1.

Northside, however, powered away in the second half to win comfortably and took the trophy with goals from Jamie Bramley (2), Tony Berwick (2) and Adam Kilgour.

Orchard, who will celebrate their 60th anniversary next season, only had a well-struck first half goal from Luke Ivison to take as consolation.

The Divisional Cup final for Division One clubs was played on Wednesday night and the two sides still contesting the League title were involved.

In the end Maryport Athletic came out on top, 2-0 against Sun Inn Athletic with goals from Cameron Harker and Ethan Weir.
