A man accused of slashing vehicle tyres in three Keswick car parks — and the illegal public possession of a blade — will appear in front of a judge later this month.

Roland Armstrong, aged 65, faces four charges after a number of alleged incidents across the town centre on Monday, April 25.

Armstrong is alleged to have caused damage to a Renault Scenic parked in the Crosthwaite Road car park; a Seat Alhambra in Booths car park; and a Chrysler vehicle in the public car park outside Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake. In each case, the damage caused to the vehicles is said to be £150.

In addition, Armstrong faces a charge which alleges that he was in possession of a Stanley knife “without good reason or lawful authority” in public in the Lakeside car park on the same date.

The case of Armstrong, of Margaret Creighton Gardens, Carlisle, came before Workington magistrates’ court earlier today, when no pleas were entered to any of the charges he faces.

Armstrong’s case was committed to Carlisle Crown Court, and he is due to appear there in front of a judge on May 23.

In the meantime, he was granted conditional bail.
