Hilary Carrick

The new Westmorland & Furness Conservative councillors have elected Cllr Hilary Carrick as their group leader on the new Shadow Authority.

Cllr Carrick, the current Conservative Group Leader on Cumbria County Council, is the newly-elected Conservative member for Hesket and Lazonby and was elected unopposed as the group leader at their inaugural meeting in Kendal yesterday.

Her deputy is Cllr Matt Brereton, who won the High Furness seat for the Conservatives in last week’s elections to the shadow unitary authority.

Following her election as leader, Cllr Carrick said: “I am delighted to have been elected as leader of the new Conservative group. The Cons group on Westmorland & Furness will be working very hard to try to ensure that the new authority delivers for our residents.”
