Workington Reds (Ben Challis)

There will be four new opponents for Workington Reds next season in the NPL West.

Subject to FA ratification the line-up has now been issued for the 2022/23 season.

Highest profile arrivals are Macclesfield, champions of the NPL West Premier Division who have just announced they are going full-time ahead of the new season.

The former Football League side won the League by 15 points in a season that was showcased by a fly-on-the-wall documentary.

They are joined by Skelmersdale United who are back at this level after an absence of three years.

They finished second in the Premier Division and had to travel to Gloucestershire for a play-off game with Cinderford United and won 5-1.

Witton Albion are down after finishing next to bottom of the NPL Premier Division and will be familiar opponents for the west Cumbrians.

They are currently without a manager as they re-group following their relegation.

The fourth new team for 2022/23 are Hanley Town who have come up as champions of the Midland League Premier Division.

They are from the Stoke-on-Trent area and will represent Reds longest trip of the season.

The teams competing next season will be: 1874 Northwich, Bootle, City of Liverpool, Clitheroe, Colne, Glossop North End, Hanley Town, Kidsgrove Athletic, Leek Town, Macclesfield, Mossley, Newcastle Town, Prescot Cables, Ramsbottom Utd, Runcorn Linnets, Skelmersdale Utd, Trafford, Widnes, Witton Albion, Workington.
