Children will be able to enjoy themselves in a new play area in Ulverston from next week.
The play area at Ford Park, in Ulverston, will open to the public from Saturday May 28. It will be officially opened by Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria Claire Hensman.
The playground was made possible with a grant of £100,000 from not-for-profit FCC Communities Foundation and a contribution from Coordination Group Publication Ltd, in Broughton.
The new playground will provide inclusive play equipment for all children and toddlers.
It has been designed to ensure children can enjoy the equipment safely and the ground has been cushioned with a new bark effect which uses 100 per cent recycled tyres.
Ford Park chief executive Jill Salmon said: “This is another step for Ford Park in providing a more accessible play area for all those in Ulverston and beyond who have come to love the beautiful open-air space and woodland.
“We are also delighted to have worked with local playground manufacturer Playdale who have helped us realise this project.”
Chair of trustees Shirley-Anne Wilson added: “We are so thrilled and delighted to be opening our new inclusive play area for all children and families to enjoy. We thank the residents of Ulverston for continuing to support Ford Park and their help with all our efforts to maintain this wonderful green community space which we are so lucky to have.”
FCC Communities Foundation awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Cheryl Raynor, FCC Communities Foundation local grant manager, said: “It is great to see a project we have funded open and ready to be used by local children. We hope it helps to create much joy over the coming years, and a special thank you to everyone involved for your hard work and commitment to deliver this fantastic project.”
People are invited to come and celebrate the opening of the play area and be the first to try it out from 10.45am on May 28.
