A Kendal teenager accused of wounding a man with intent after a town centre incident is set to stand trial later this year.
Dylan Kempster, 18, faces a total of three charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court remotely over a video link yesterday.
One alleges the unlawful and malicious wounding of a man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm; and a second alternative charge alleges unlawful wounding of the same complainant.
A third charge alleges the possession of a knife in a public place, Kendal’s Highgate, without good reason or lawful authority.
Kempster pleaded not guilty to each of the charges when they were read to him by a court clerk.
All three allegations arise out of an incident on the evening of Saturday, April 16, this year.
“A man, 19, suffered serious injuries and has since been released from hospital,” said a Cumbria police spokesman in a statement issued on April 19.
“Officers are investigating and are appealing to anyone who was in that area at that time and who may have witnessed something to get in touch.”
Kempster, of Gillinggate, Kendal, is due to stand trial in front of a jury at the crown court on October 24.
In the meantime the teen was remanded in custody although the court was told that a bail application hearing would be listed for later this month.
