Carlisle’s first dinosaur themed bubble tea café opened its doors last Friday and the first weekend of business has proven to be a roaring success.

TEA-REX aims to be a place for youngsters and the young at heart to enjoy boba tea, coffee, Asian snacks and of course, dinosaurs, with dinosaur plush toys available to purchase.

Owners Hamilton Harmon and Anna Cole who will be running the café first moved to Carlisle from London after being made redundant during the pandemic and becoming tired of the rat race.

The pair said it had always been their dream to start a business together and after noticing there were no other bubble tea shops in Carlisle, decided on the Market Hall as their ideal space.

Hamilton added: “Our first date was getting bubble tea, so we absolutely love it.”

When asked about the inspiration behind their café’s name, Hamilton told Cumbria Crack: “Our friends are obsessed with dinosaurs and we are too, so we married the two things we love.”

After their successful opening weekend, the duo now have a permanent lease for their unit at the Market Hall.

The café will be open again this weekend from 10 to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and will be open full time Wednesday to Saturday from Wednesday June 22.

To find out more about the café you can search for TEA-REX on Instagram and Facebook.
