Firms are invited to an event to find out how they can get involved with major projects happening in Cumbria.
The meet the buyer event is organised by Allerdale council in partnership with Kier and Morgan Sindall.
It is designed to make sure that Cumbrian companies have the opportunity to benefit from multi-million-pound schemes in the pipeline for Allerdale and the wider county.
There are almost £40 million-worth of projects earmarked in Allerdale, including the revamp of Christ Church and an extension for the Wave Centre in Maryport and the building of an innovation centre in Workington.
At the event, people can talk to people from all the organisations involved and get advice from the council’s procurement staff on the bidding process.
The event will also allow attendees to promote their business, develop relationships with other suppliers and apply to register as a key supply chain member.
Attendees can drop-in on the event anytime between 10am and 2pm, next Thursday June 30.
It is being held at Allerdale council’s office in Workington. It is free to attend and there is no need to register.
Mike Johnson, leader of Allerdale council, said: “We want to ensure that the local supply chain gets the most benefit from the investment into our communities which will be happening over the next few years.
“This will not only fuel our local economies, but also boost employment opportunities for our local communities. Therefore, I’d encourage any interested firms, to come along to the event and find out more.”
Sean Fenner, regional director at Kier Construction North & Scotland, added: “As part of our partnership with Allerdale council, we are delighted to be providing opportunities to the local supply chain and businesses.
