Maryport racer Dan Bewley reached his third successive semi-final in Friday night’s Polish Grand Prix.
But once again he was just unable to make that last step forward and missed out on an appearance in the final.
Another thrilling night of racing produced a fifth different winner from five Grand Prix so far. Anders Thomsen topped the podium but with Bartosz Zmarzlik reaching another final, the race for the title looks to be heading his way.
The next meeting is in Cardiff on August 13, when Bewley will be hoping to head the British challenge and make that elusive first final.
After five rounds Zmarzlik of Poland leads with 78 points from Leon Madsen (Denmark) 60 and Martin Vaculik (Slovakia) 53. Bewley is currently 11th with 44 points.
After his five rides on the night Bewley was in second spot on 12 points just behind Vaculik (13). The Cumbrian had claimed three wins, a second and a third.
In his semi-final Bewley was just beaten for second by Zmarzlik with Thomsen leading the way home, but in the second heat of the night saw him win from fellow Brit Robert Lambert with Zmarzlik struggling in third.
