Four men – one carrying an axe – attacked the front door of a house in Barrow in the early hours.
The men, all wearing black and matching red and white balaclavas, tried to get into a home on Gradwell Court at around 2.20am yesterday, June 25.
One man was carrying an axe and they caused “substantial damage” to the front door, police said.
Officers are investigating the incident as an attempted burglary.
No one was injured.
