A Carlisle HR and recruitment firm plans to plant a forest in honour of the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

Claire McLean, founder of Realise HR, is planning to grow more than her business this year – and will create the forest on land at Kingmoor Park.

Claire said: “It’s something we’ve been thinking of for a while and the Queen’s platinum jubilee is the perfect time to launch our new initiative.

“We all know we should be doing more to look after the planet, we’re on a journey to net zero and as a business we emit relatively low carbon emissions as our team are fortunate to be able to work remotely – but we know we can always do more.”

The first tree will be planted today and later in the year, the company will plant a tree for every new client they have supported to help the forest grow/

Claire added: “We are really excited to start planting and seeing the Realise Forest take root, as we will not only be inviting the business community to plant trees and support their net zero ambitions, but children from Stanwix School and Carlisle Youth Zone will also be helping us to plant trees and wildflowers.”

Claire and her team are planning an annual tree planting event so the Realise Forest will continue to grow and help tackle climate change, while keeping them rooted within the local community.

Realise HR have partnered with Kingmoor Park, The LEP and The Woodland Trust to bring this project to life and they are planning a launch webinar on

Harvey Scowcroft, property manager of Kingmoor Park, added: “Our ethos at Kingmoor Park, through our Sustainability Initiative is to take steps to strive towards being a more sustainable and net zero emissions business park. One way in which we are doing that is through our partnership with Realise HR on their tree planting endeavour. We are pleased to see that Realise have got on board with our ethos and look forward to seeing their business and trees grow in harmony, whilst continuing to create a greener and cleaner business park for Carlisle.”
