Kendal Town take on a Fleetwood Town side tonight, their latest test in the build-up to the new season on July 30.
Fleetwood will send a mixed side to Parkside Road of Under-18s and Under-23s, and should provide attractive opposition for the Mintcakes.
Jimmy Marshall’s side go into the contest on the back of a 2-1 home defeat by Carlisle City when they used 20 players during the course of the 90 minutes.
Chairman Michael O’Neill said: “Although we lost to a late penalty it was a good workout for us and I thought we played some decent stuff. If there was a short-coming it was probably in the final third where we were a bit wasteful but I’m sure that’s going to improve with sharpness.
“Nathan Hankinson, a young left back and one of our new signings, scored our goal and heis a player who has impressed in pre-season. I’m sure we have a good lad there.”
Kendal will complete their preparation on Saturday with a home game against Workington, former neighbours and rivals from their time in the NPL.
The North West Counties League starts on July 30 with a trip to Vauxhall Motors and they are looking forward to Tuesday August 9 when they welcome Bury AFC to Parkside Road for what should be a memorable night.
