A foundation to promote and support rugby league development in Copeland has been relaunched.
The Copeland Rugby League Community Development Foundation has been inactive for some time but three new trustees have taken over the running of the charity and are looking forward to working in, and with, the Copeland community.
The new trustees are Carl Walmsley, a Copeland Borough and Whitehaven town councillor; Amanda Hewer, who has previously worked as a development officer for the foundation and Des Byrne, current team manager for Whitehaven RLFC.
The foundation will be looking to work in local schools and the community on various projects.
The first one starts next month with four Summer Rugby Camps arranged for two age groups. The camps will be held at the LEL Arena and led by Haven player Alex Bishop with other players joining him to coach the kids.
The dates and age groups are: ages seven to 10 August 3 and 16; ages 11 to 15 August 4 and 17.
Each session is from 10am to 2pm and costs £5. If two sessions are booked then the cost is £8 for the two.
Places are limited but can be booked by calling Whitehaven RLFC on 01946 328088.
