Thousands of youngsters will get to see Carlisle United matches for free this season thanks to The Cumberland.

The region’s largest financial institution will continue as sponsor of the club’s Community Ticket Scheme for two more years and also retain the naming rights to the Community Stand.

The extension comes as Blues fans eagerly await the start of the new season on Saturday July 30 following the team’s strong end to the 2021/22 season under returning manager Paul Simpson.

The Schools and Community Ticket Scheme provides local primary schools and community groups with up to 300 free tickets for home football matches during the season.

Andrew Gordon, Business Development Manager at The Cumberland, said: “By sponsoring the Community Ticket Scheme we are able to provide hundreds of free tickets to local primary schools and community groups in the area and help the club to develop its next generation of fans.”

The Cumberland’s sponsorship of the scheme has now been in operation for just over 12 years and the community-based partnership took another step in 2013 when the club’s A Stand was rebranded as the Cumberland Community Stand.

Strong supporters of the Blues, The Cumberland had previously sponsored the East Stand and a number of other initiatives in and around Brunton Park.

Blues’ manager Paul Simpson said: “When I came to the club in February I spoke about how important it is for the community to feel part of everything we do, and I can’t thank The Cumberland enough for what is a brilliant example of that with their Community Stand and Ticket Scheme.

“This not only gives youngsters a chance to come to a game, when they perhaps wouldn’t otherwise do so, but it also fosters fans of the future, which is so important.

He added: “I know the Cumberland are huge supporters of the club and it’s always good for us to see successful local businesses and companies giving their support, particularly when, like this, it’s for the benefit of so many people.”

Blues fans can also help support the club with a savings account from The Cumberland.

The ‘Cumberland Blues’ account donates 1% of the total average balance to the club, as well as offering a range of other benefits including a discount in the club shop and a free prize draw.
