Both the senior and puppy table leaders in the HTA championships were beaten at Cold Fell last night.
Puppy leader Huntsman’s Rebel has a huge lead at the top of the table so finishing fourth was hardly a disaster.
But in the seniors Duchess Ava has less room for errors and finishing second was clearly an opportunity missed.
Stephen Riley’s Cautious won the trail which means second-placed Duchess Ava only has a two-point lead over Hunter’s Flame and Huntsman’s Que.
Huntsman’s Rebel was sent off favourite for the puppy trail but was only fourth as Debbie and Lana McGee’s Apache Raider scored his first championship win from the Napiers Foxparke Beep Beep and Alan Blacklock’s Busy Again.
Huntsman’s Rebel leads the table with 21 wins from Ned’s Gain who has 10.
Stuart Smith’s Overwater Marvin took the honours in the open maidens race from the Napiers Foxparke Whoosh.
The final race for open restricted was won by Alan O’Fee’s Barncroft Spirit which beat Lily for Barbara and Geoff Jones of Ulverston.
Lily moves to third in the open restricted championship just four points behind Forlorn Spring.
